My Work.

My debut novel, Cities of the Common Man, is now available on Amazon.

My work has appeared in the Mark Literary Review, Diverse Voice Quarterly, Curious Fiction, Lit Up and The Junction. Most recently, I was named a finalist in Glimmer Train Press' 2018 Short Story Award. This summer, I’ll be working with the National Book Award finalist during Carve Magazine’s 2019 Paris Summer Writing Workshop.

“Hasskamp’s debut novel is a unique and oddly endearing tale of self-discovery.”

Why Ben Hasskamp?

I believe there are few things more beautiful than a well-prepared Old Fashioned and the sound of a 1966 Royal typewriter.  If you’re looking for a touch more (credible) detail about me: I graduated from the University of Southern California’s film school where I had the opportunity to study the art of story crafting and editing through a variety of mediums.  After majoring in critical studies with minors in screen and creative writings, I’ve worked and developed content for Wes Craven Films, Sony and Brillstein Entertainment Partners. I’ve developed content and blogging pipelines for startups (consumer and B2B tech verticals) as well as Fortune 500 Companies.

I would love to work with you on any content needs or content strategy for you or your business— reach out now or find me on Upwork.

About Me.

Personally, I’m obsessed with the likes of Carson McCullers, Charles Bukowski, Eve Babitz, Joan Didion, Celeste Ng, Bret Easton Ellis, and David Sedaris.  My favorite podcasts are This American Life, Serial, 99% Invisible, Stuff You Should Know, and How Did This Get Made.  I also have a two-year old Labradoodle named Baxter, whom I refuse to believe is anything other than “the best boy.”

Get on the list.
